If S stands for Style in fashion, then S is for Sauvage in Perfumes. Sauvage by Dior is perhaps the only perfume out there that has a peppery raw freshness with a tinge of earthy smell that can make a man smell both powerful and noble. Legend has it that the name Sauvage was inspired by Christian Dior’s friend Percy Savage, when Dior was looking for a name for a perfume for men and had asked Savage to recommend one. However, it was only in 1966, after Christian Dior’s death, Dior launched Eau Sauvage, the first perfume for men by Dior. Percy Savage was a well-known figure in the world of fashion and haute couture and was a regular A-lister in most fashion events during his time. He had powerful connections and is probably the most sought after fashion publicist that the world has seen. In fact, it was Percy Savage that introduced Yves Saint Laurent to Christian Dior.

The present day Sauvage perfume was launched in 2015. Redefined by Dior in-house perfumer, François Demachy, Sauvage is inspired by wild, open spaces; blue sky that covers rocky landscapes, hot under the desert sun, with top notes bergamot and pepper, middle notes lavender and geranium, and base note cedar and labdanum. Like the inspiration behind the perfume, Percy Savage, and the face for the advertisement for the perfume, none other than Johnny Depp, the perfume truly is a statement of power and nobility for the modern day man.
